Soak Mun, LeeClinical Psychologist

I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with more than 7 years of experience providing psychological assessment and therapeutic intervention for a broad range of counselling and mental health issues. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults both individually and in groups.

My areas of expertise are in childhood trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, mood and anxiety issues, psychotic illnesses, relationship issues, stress management, anger management, and grief and loss issues. I believe in meeting individuals at where they are and selecting an approach that best fit in with their unique needs. I also hold particular interests in emotional experiential therapeutic approach, with an emphasis in helping individuals reconcile conflicts between how they feel and what they think. Working from a strength-based perspective, my approach in working with individuals mirrors my perspective towards life – that of exploration, meaning making and maximizing one’s potential.

My diverse work and personal experiences in the past have also helped me appreciate the challenges faced by people from all walks of life.

Started out being trained primarily in CBT, I gradually developed an eclectic approach towards psychological interventions over the years. Specifically, I draw techniques from various psychological theories and interventions guided by evidence-based research (e.g., Schema therapy, Dialectical behavioral therapy, Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, Mindfulness).

Areas of expertise and special interest include: complex trauma, posttraumatic stress disorders (PTSD), depression, anxiety (general anxiety, panic attacks, phobias), emotion regulation difficulties, interpersonal difficulties, stress and anger issues, grief and loss or adjustment issues in relation to chronic health problems, end-of-life issues or life transitions.
