PERSONAL DETAILS AND INTERESTS (03) 9820 5577
I am a registered psychologist and clinical psychology registrar. I am also a lecturer in the Master of Psychology (Clinical) program and research fellow at Victoria University in Melbourne, as well as a conjoint lecturer in psychiatry at The Black Dog Institute in Sydney. My research involves (a) brain-based approaches to understanding obsessive-compulsive and related disorders and (b) digital approaches to delivering cognitive behavioural therapies.
My therapeutic approach is warm and collaborative (with some occasional humour along the way). I work together with each client to develop a shared understanding of their situation and what they would like to get out of therapy. I use research-based therapies such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to help clients learn and grow. I also use research from the social sciences to help clients understand how our emotions support connection and self-worth.
EXPERIENCE (AREAS OF EXPERTISE)
I am experienced in treating mood disorders (such as Depression), anxiety-based disorders (such as Specific Phobias, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders (such as OCD and Hoarding Disorder). In my time at the Black Dog Institute, I also gained experience in working collaboratively with psychiatrists, general practitioners and other health professionals to care for people experiencing Bipolar Disorders I & II, Schizoaffective Disorder, addiction and complex trauma.
I mostly work with adults, but I am happy to discuss working with children experiencing OCD.
