The Child and Adolescent Psychologists at the centre have 20+ years experience working in diverse settings including schools. Jason and Lyn head the Adolescent and Children practice at the centre and can support a variety of developmental concerns, working with sadness, depression, social anxiety and other matters.

We use evidence-based and empirically supported approaches to support clients with relationship issues. We tailor our therapy sessions to effectively address client concerns. Our methodologies include Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy (EFT-C), Emotion-Focused Couple Therapy for Resolving Emotional Injuries (EFT-C-EI), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Approaches and more.
The psychologists at the centre have undertaken specific couples counselling training to specialise in this space. Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy has been shown to be highly effective in creating connections and changing a couple’s relationship in a positive and lasting way.
Some of the issues that the practitioners help couples with include: – Relationship repair following an emotional or physical affair – Helping couples resolve emotional injuries and let go of hurt, anger, and to forgive – Conflict and negative communication issues – Enhancing communication and deepening emotional connection – Pre-marital counselling – Difficulties in blended families – Problems with in-laws – Parenting stress
All psychologists at the centre work with adults on an individual basis. They each have expertise in supporting clients with a range of issues including depression, anxiety and trauma. Centre for Emotion Focused Practice provides a safe, caring, compassionate, and understanding environment. We want you to feel welcome and comfortable to talk to us and get the help and support you need.

The fee for an individual session is $200 (50-55 minutes).
The fee for a child/adolescent session or a couples session is $220 (50-55 minutes).
You may be eligible for partial rebates through Medicare (with a Mental Health Care Plan) or Private Health Insurance (Depending on your level of cover). Please contact reception if you would like to discuss this in greater detail.
Our fees are significantly lower than the Australian Psychological Society’s recommended fee schedule. We believe that everyone should have access to quality mental health support.
Session costs can also be offset against Private Health Extras Cover and rebates vary according to your level of cover. We work with all private health funds.

With a Mental Health Care Plan, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates which cover part of the session fee. We are predominantly a private practice, which means there is a gap fee for clients to pay. We do, however, keep a limited number of Bulk Bill sessions for clients who have are unemployed or on a Low Income Healthcare Card. If you require a Bulk Billed or concession appointment, please call us to check availability.
If you are covered by NDIS there is generally no out-of-pocket cost. Some of our psychologists accept funding through DVA and TAC.
Clients with other medical conditions may be eligible for a further 5 sessions at the end of the 10 initial sessions under the Chronic Disease Management Scheme with Medicare.
